BPH and related micturation problems are very common among the elderley men. Problems about the bladder itself during the aging process is mingled with the enlargment of the prostate which blocks the passage of the urine as the patient gets older. The patient feels difficulty in voiding, straining and starts to fail in emptying all of his bladder which eventually deforms the baldder and may harm the kidneys. Besides, there are irrittive symptoms like dysuria, follakuria, nocturia,... The urologist mostly starts with medical treatment to ease the symptoms, but if the oral medication is not enough, endoscopic surgical methods are here to relieve the symptoms by removing the prostate. Less oftenly (about 5%) we may need open surgery in casess of a bladder diverticulum or existence of plenty of large stones in the bladder.
