Testicular cancer

Testicular cancer is one of the most common malignancies among young (20-35yrs) men. Generally the patient himself feels a difference in the appearence or integrity of his testicle. It can be diagnosed with physical examination and verified with ultrasound or MRI. Some testis tumors secrete hormones which are important in diagnosis and follow up. The testis must be removed urgently. Mostly we offer the implantation of a testicular prosthesis for cosmetic concerns. Chemotherapy may be needed if the disease is metastatic. Mostly these patient are at a younger age and fertility is an important issue which must be considered by the urologist.
